International Advisory Board - Jigmi Y. Thinley 

Jigmi Y. Thinley was born in 1952 in Zangling, Central Bhutan. He received a BA degree (Honours) from Delhi University, India in 1974, and an MPA from Pennsylvania State University, USA in 1976. He is the Prime Minister of Bhutan and the President of Druk Phuensum Tshogpa and has had a long and distinguished career in politics and government. In 2009 he was the recipient of the Druk Wangyel Award, the highest civilian decoration in Bhutan awarded by the King, for outstanding and exemplary service to the nation. In 2009 he also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Pennsylvania State University. The award salutes the achievements of outstanding alumni whose “personal lives, professional achievements, and community service exemplify the objectives of their alma mater”. He has addressed the UN General Assembly numerous times, and has spoken at regional summits and other international meetings in his capacity as Foreign Minister and now Prime Minister of Bhutan.
