SNV is present on the ground in 32 countries across five regions:
• Asia
• Balkans
• East and Southern Africa
• Latin America
• West and Central Africa.
We have a head office in The Hague, Netherlands, though the number of staff there is gradually reducing as we put greater emphasis on our work in the five regions.
We also have a partnership office in Washington DC. Staff here work to establish partnerships with other multi-lateral organisations, corporations, foundations, universities, social investors and other bodies, to increase the impact of our work.
Our leadership
Our chief executive and Managing Board manage our activity under the guidance of an independent Supervisory Board. This Board plays a crucial role in the good governance of SNV. It ensures that we actually do what we say we will do. Our mission is to alleviate poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries, and our Supervisory Board monitors our work to ensure we are doing this in the most effective and efficient way possible. Board members are not SNV employees. They come from a range of backgrounds – from international law to organisational development – but all have experience that complements the work of SNV.
In July 2009, we also launched an International Advisory Board to help expand the scale, impact and visibility of our work. Find out about the Board’s work and its members.
Our advisors
We employ over 850 professional advisors across 32 countries. Our advisors are a diverse mix of professionals with varied expertise, and different cultural and professional backgrounds. Find out more about our advisors.
