Organisation

SNV has been working in Benin since 1970 and since 2003, has devoted itself to capacity reinforcement for local governance and to the achieving of impact for poverty reduction. SNV’s activities aim to upscale and have high impact on development.

Our national office is based in Cotonou and a second office is located in Parakou. Our advisors are spread over two teams, working in 6 departements in Benin. See details on our office on the contact page. They support, advice and coach local actors to strenghten their capacities and pursue their own sustainable development. The recipients of these services include the public sector, the private sector, farmer groups, and civil society organizations. 

SNV Benin supports more than 100 local organisations, in close partnership with local, national and international organisations.  We operate in line with the local government (Millennium Development Goals) as well as Benin's Stratégie de Croissance et de Réduction de la Pauvreté  (SCRP 2011-2015). 

Our organization is a strategic partner for pivotal Ministries such as Ministry of Decentralisation (MDGLAAT), Ministry of Economy and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water and Energie, Ministry of Woman promotion, Ministry of Industry and SME.

Our main financial partners are DGIS, Europenian Union delegation to Benin, UNICEF, ICCO, EKN to Benin, AFD, etc..

Our personnel consists in 33 employees (29 are nationals), including 21 advisors, experts in: Agriculture, Renewable Energyand Water, Hygiene & Sanitation.

Since July 2012, SNV Benin is led by Ms Brigitte G. DIA, Country Director.
