Our initiatives in the Agriculture sector include:
In the Cotton/Food Security area, SNV works through the Building Program Producer organizations (ROCOTON) and also in promoting the values of food chains from the perspective of food security. These activities cover four (4) departments (Atacora / Donga, Borgou / Alibori, Zou / hills and Mono-Couffo) and 10 municipalities (Banikoara, Kandi, Kalalé, Sinendé, Cobly, Djougou Kouande, Dassa, Djidja Aplahoué).
The Local Capacity Development Facility in Republic of Benin (Benin-LCDF) is a non-profit association governed by the law of 1 July 1901. Under the initiative of the SNV, it was created in November 2011 by some fifty national structures (NGOs, technical services of the state office of education) known for their involvement in strengthening the capacity of actors in agriculture throughout the national territory. It is a platform to secure the service market development capabilities. This will give confidence to the NGOs to professionalise the various links in the value chain of agriculture.
Agri-Hub Benin is a network of professionals and organisations who are engaged to promote farmers’ entrepreneurship in Benin. The Agri-Hub Benin was initiated by the Dutch network Agri-ProFocus in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in 2011. SNV assures coordination of the network in Benin.
Agri-Hub’ aim is to promote farmers’ entrepreneurship through effective collaboration between all actors (local & foreign) who are active in the agriculture sector in Benin: producers’ organisations, agro-businesses, banks, knowledge institutions, NGOs and consultancies, but also government and donors.
