In 2009, SNV / Benin signed a multi-stakeholder partnership composed of state structures such as la Direction Générale de l’Energie, la Direction de l’élevage, l’Agence Béninoise d’Electrification rurale et la Maîtrise de l’Energie and le Centre Songhaï to drive the whole process of the pretest. The pre-test in five pilot municipalities led to the construction of 22 biodigesters, including 12 funded by SNV and 10 others funded by the Government through l’Agence Béninoise d’Electrification rurale et la Maîtrise de l’Energie. This program pretest was reinforced in 2011 by the construction of 20 new bio-digesters funded by SNV with the coordination of Centre Songhai

Our Renewable Energy sector strategy is based on learning by doing, using in a multi-stakeholder approach to the development of the domestic biogas market in Benin.
