Improving access, coverage and quality of basic services

SNV in Bhutan improves access to, coverage and quality of basic services through the Bhutan Biogas Project. Started in 2011, it aims to build capacity of the public and private sectors to construct and operate 1,600 biogas plants in four districts in the next two years. 

Increasing production, employment & income opportunities

SNV helps farmers to access markets and improve their products, increasing incomes for the rural poor. This involves focusing on: 

  1. Off-Season Vegetables 
  2. Non-Timber Forest Products
  3. Cooperative Sector Development

Improving access to better health, sanitation and hygiene

SNV in Bhutan works in both rural and urban contexts to ensure ACCESS FOR ALL to:
  1. Improved sanitation and hygiene
  2. Market driven sanitation supply chains
  3. Innovative behaviour change communication

Bhutan +10 Conference

Prime Minister of Bhutan

In July 2009, H.E Jigmi Y. Thinley, PM of Bhutan joined SNV's International Advisory Board to contribute his experience to the organisation's sustainable development work.
