Female leadership manual launch

In Bhutan, SNV Bhutan joined the country and its partners in celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March 2014 with the launch of the female leadership training manual titled “Strengthening Female Leadership in Farmers’ Groups and Cooperatives”, Empowering women for better participation and decision making by the Queen Mother, Her Majesty Galyum Sangay Choden Wangchuk in Haa district.

National PES Inception Workshop Held in Thimphu, Bhutan

On February 16th, the Minister of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, opened the 3-day National PES Inception Workshop to an audience of over 65 selected stakeholders representing the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Celebrating 25 years in Bhutan!

In this Year of the Water Snake, SNV is celebrating our silver jubilee in Bhutan.  From July in 2013, with our government and local partners and team, we will be looking back together at 25 years of working in partnership.

Bhutan Biogas Project to build 1,600 plants in 2 years

Started in 2011, the SNV supported Bhutan Biogas Project aims to build capacity of the public and private sectors to construct and operate 1,600 biogas plants in four districts in the next two years.

Lentils can be a promising climate-smart crop grown together with maize after the harvest of rice crop during Nov-Dec. The incomegenerated from this triple cropping system is purely profit for the subsistence farmers in Bhutan.
A training of the trainers is being held at Paro (21-25th July) for the stakeholders involved in capacity building of farmer groups and cooperatives.
The Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) programme is currently being implemented in the Samtse district. As part of the programme cycle, one of the first activities was to carry out a baseline survey in Samtse, which took place between 26 June and 12 July 2014.
