Climate-smart Agriculture

On March 10th, the beneficiaries of Chuzagang & Sershong geogs under Sarpang district came together to frame by-laws for a water user association (WUA), under Taklai irrigation scheme. This scheme is the biggest irrigation scheme in terms of length, area coverage & number of beneficiaires.  

Behaviour Change Communication

For the first time in Bhutan, an Asian regional learning event on Behaviour Change Communication in sanitation & hygiene is underway in Paro, from 9 to 12 March, 2015. There are participants from six countries. The event is organised by SNV Bhutan & Public Health Engineereing Division, Ministry of Health.

Female leadership manual launch

In Bhutan, SNV Bhutan joined the country and its partners in celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March 2014 with the launch of the female leadership training manual titled “Strengthening Female Leadership in Farmers’ Groups and Cooperatives”, Empowering women for better participation and decision making by the Queen Mother, Her Majesty Galyum Sangay Choden Wangchuk in Haa district.

National PES Inception Workshop Held in Thimphu, Bhutan

On February 16th, the Minister of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, opened the 3-day National PES Inception Workshop to an audience of over 65 selected stakeholders representing the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Celebrating 25 years in Bhutan!

In this Year of the Water Snake, SNV is celebrating our silver jubilee in Bhutan.  From July in 2013, with our government and local partners and team, we will be looking back together at 25 years of working in partnership.

SNV and the Department of Agriculture organised a general awareness programme and training of the Water Users’ Association committee (WUAC) in Bhutan.
The Phangyul community in Wangdue Phodrang receives continuous support from SNV's Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) project. Last week, the CSA project supported the protection of the local pond that benefits seven households for increased rice and vegetables productions.
The first Asia regional workshop in the field of behaviour change is being held in Bhutan, as part of the Sustainable Sanitation & Hygiene For All programme implemented by SNV Bhutan in partnership with the Public Health Engineering Division (PHED).
