SNV, Public health engineering department & Samtse district administration achieves milestones in conducting Community development for Health (CDH) workshops & training of local people to bring about improved sanitation facility.
Training of District Livestock Extension Officers and Masons in ‘Construction, Supervision, Operation & Maintenance of Fixed Dome Biodigester’ from 9 - 20th March, 2015 in Punakha.
On 7 & 8th March, a CDH workshop was conducted in Jigme Village, Dorokha Drungkhag, Samtse District to facilitate and make the community realise, self-discover, create ownership and eventually take collective actions for improving the sanitation and hygiene status of their community.
The second Payment for Environmental Services (PES) agreement in Bhutan was signed on 23rd March, 2015 for 5 years between the Burkhey Watershed Community and a group of Industrial houses in Pasakha, Phuntsholing for the supply of drinking water.
On March 10th, the beneficiaries of Chuzagang & Sershong geogs under Sarpang district came together to frame by-laws for a water user association (WUA), under Taklai irrigation scheme. This scheme is the biggest irrigation scheme in terms of length, area coverage & number of beneficiaires.
For the first time in Bhutan, an Asian regional learning event on Behaviour Change Communication in sanitation & hygiene is underway in Paro, from 9 to 12 March, 2015. There are participants from six countries. The event is organised by SNV Bhutan & Public Health Engineereing Division, Ministry of Health.
