SNV initiated its activities in Burkina in 1968 with Dutch volunteers participating to a project for the development of Boucle du Mouhoun  region (Toma municipality) and officially settled in Burkina Faso in 1970, with an agreement between Dutch and Burkinabè governments.

The complexity of development issues and the need for local expertise at that time made our activities, on a local and international level, progress rapidly. Ever since, SNV Burkina Faso has been supporting local actors in finding adequate, innovative and sustainable answers to poverty alleviation, while promoting good governance. Our advisors intervene in:

  • Agriculture (Cereals - Oilseeds - Livestock and Pastoralism)
  • Renewable Energy (Biogas - Solar Energy - Clean Energy)
  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

The country activities are steered by the Country Director, Mireille Capo, who is based in Ouagadougou.
