Improving access to better health, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene

Without safe water and sanitation, sustainable development is impossible. To address the  issues, SNV is working with relevant stakeholders on two priority areas 1) Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All and 2) Functionality of Water Services.

Improving the access, coverage and quality of basic services

SNV Cambodia improves the access, coverage and quality of basic services.  This takes place through our programmes in Renewable Energy: 1) National Biodigester Programme and 2) Waste to Energy for the Rice Milling Sector in Cambodia.

Increasing production, employment, equitable income opportunities

SNV Cambodia helps increase production, employment and equitable income opportunities for the poor through three programmes 1) Fruits and Vegetables Value Chain Development; 2) Inclusive Business in mango; and 3) Climate Change Adaption in agriculture production systems.

By end of 2011, SNV and IRC reviewed progress of the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) programme in Asia. .

SNV has been present in the Kingdom of Cambodia since 2005 - when the National Biodigester Programme commenced - and now operates in eight southeastern provinces with programmes in Agriculture, Pro-Poor Sustainable Tourism, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
 
In addition to the specialist expertise it brings to these sectors, SNV works to develop capacity in  governance for empowerment, gender equity and social inclusion, and value chain development services (including access to financial support) all of our interventions.
 
By working hand-in-hand with local actors, SNV Cambodia aims to:
  • Increase production, employment and equitable income opportunities for the poor via our work in Pro-poor Sustainable Tourism and Agriculture;  and
  • Improve access to, coverage and quality of basic services via our work in Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene.
