SNV Cameroon helped bring together 3,500 Baka people, suppliers of the bush mango, with potential markets for their products in Nigeria, leading to marked increases in income for the Baka people. Consequently, the Baka are gaining commercial experience and more importantly, confidence and equal status with other Cameroonians. The improvement of this Market Information System for Non Timber Forest Products has gained a lot of credits and is today being unpscaled in SNV RDC.

In 2009, SNV Cameroon's water advisors were able to influence a 15% increase in the membership of women and other minority groups present in water management committees in the North West region. Likewise, they contributed in a 20% reduction in the price of a cubic meter of water destined to the population. Consequently, more than 2000 extra households today have access to safe drinking water thus reducing the number of women and children fetching water from long distances. These continue to help us to position ourselves as one of the leading actors working for an equitable and sustainable access of save drinking water by the poor.

Facilitating the feasibility study on the development and implementation of a national biogas programme in Cameroon strengthened our relations with the Cameroon’s Ministry of energy and water resources. This process resulted to: more government commitment on biogas as a renewable source of energy, the construction of 23 biogas digesters, and the training of 31 masons amongst which one lady.

Assisting pastoralists’ to contribute in the elaboration of the pastoral code was one of our major highlights in 2009. Again, facilitating the creation of the National Confederation of Cattle Breeders and the holding of their general assembly during which the Cameroon government was highly represented by the Minister Fisheries and Animal Industry showed government’s ascending commitment in this process.
