Our Work

Working closely with local partners and stakeholders, SNV in Lao PDR aims to:

• Reduce poverty by increasing production, income and employment among the rural poor. We use market-based solutions within a value chain approach. We build the capacity of market actors to establish fair and equitable trading relations with smallholder farmers. Our agriculture programme includes value chain work in the following commodities:
  • Rice
  • Bamboo
  • Silk
  • Cassava
• Develop markets with private businesses that supply domestic biogas and wood/charcoal cook stoves through the:
  • Biogas  Programme            
  • Improved Cook Stoves Programme
• Improve access to basic Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene services, particularly for the rural poor, and increase sustainability, accountability and collaboration across the sector through the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All programme.
