SNV's Water and Sanitation Governance program in Mali contributes to improving access to safe water and basic sanitation in a fair and sustainable intervention in 11 municipalities. The programme will benefit some 378,000 people including 215,000 women, by 2015. It will promote and accompany specifically the capacity for dialogue, interaction and project management of municipalities’ actors in charge of water and sanitation.
In partnership with ARD WARWI in 2010 and UNICEF in 2011, SNV is implementing Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All. The programme aims to create demand for sanitation, strengthen sanitation supply chain development, improve governance for sanitation, and strengthen local capacities for behavioural change and communication for hygiene.
