On 17th April 2012, SNV and the CTA-Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on economic and sustainable development in Mozambique. The objective of the MOU is to create an inclusive business environment in Mozambique, envisaging the reduction of poverty and create more jobs.
SNV was represented by Sector Leader Agriculture Mr Marc Steen, the CTA and by its president Rogerio Manuel. This event was attended by large private sector companies such as Companhia Comercial Osman Yacob, Corredor de Desenvolvimento de Nacala, Delta Corporation, Ernst & Young, Grupo Entreposto, Grupo Insitec, Grupo Soico, Grupo VIP, Hidroelectrica de Mpanda Nkuwa, Moçambique Leaf Tobacco, Mogas, NCC Moçambique, Rio Tinto, Sasol, Seacom Mozambique, Sotux, SA Cambios, Vale and Vodacom. The Media was also present.
SNV is working on this MOU in partnership with the CPI - Centre for Investment Promotion and CTA. The target group of inclusive business are small and medium enterprises, community, and large companies. The organisations called for integration of inclusive business into the government's agenda.
SNV is currently the leader in promoting inclusive business in Mozambique, and was the initiator of the first Inclusive Business conference in 2011. SNV intends to help create a sustainable environment to the example of Latin America and some countries of Africa, like Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Kenya.
