Prior to joining SNV, Surendra worked for Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd – one of the leading commercial banks in the country – for over ten years in the corporate, retail lending and marketing departments. Later, he joined Winrock International, a US based INGO, as a Marketing specialist where he targeted the equitable commercialisation of essential oil value chains that have the potential to generate sustainable income for forest user groups, disadvantage groups, and landless people.

Surendra has extensive experience in linking disadvantaged communities with commercial financing, and developing modalities and mechanism for monitoring such structures; working with the private sector and government agencies to analyse market and economic trends for strategic planning and up scaling; and enhancing value chains to become pro-poor.

Surendra holds a Bsc. in Management and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Sociology.
