Laxmi joined SNV Nepal in April 2005. Laxmi provides strategic and programmatic advisory support to strengthen the capacity of timber value chains, forest based community livelihoods initiations, and payment for environmental services for improved production, income and employment. In addition, Laxmi is involved with managing, facilitating and brokering knowledge on forests, biodiversity and ecological services.
Prior to joining SNV, Laxmi worked for The Mountain Institute (TMI), a US based NGO, for nearly 6 years, where he managed a conservation project linked to community livelihoods. In addition, Laxmi produced a comprehensive community based management plan for a protected area and its buffer zone and facilitated international workshops in Tibet, India, as well as managing an online project on Himalayan native plants. Previously, Laxmi worked for Makalu Barun Conservation Project – a Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded initiative together with the joint the Government of Nepal – for three years and was responsible for planning, monitoring and donor reporting. In addition, Laxmi was involved with research activities for two years in forestry pasture development in Lumle Agriculture Research Centre, a British funded research institute.
Laxmi holds an MSc in Environmental Management from the national University of Singapore and BSc in Forest Science.
