NNPAL is a common platform of the non-timber forest products (NTFP) growers and small and medium NTFP entrepreneurs of the Sarlahi district. The main aim of the organisation is to develop Sarlahi as the most important and productive district in NTFPs among Terai districts. SNV is currently providing market and product development training to NNPAL to improve the value chain of lemon grass in the Sarlahi district. District Forest Coordination Committee of Chitwan
Through the DFCC Chitwan, SNV is promoting independent decision-making which would establish local empowerment and consequently a larger ownership of the decentralisation reform and field practices in the sector. Improvement of governance with DFCC was designed by building its capacity in self-assessment (through a designed self-assessment tool). The tool covers five major areas of DFCC functions with an overall theme of good governance. The major criteria are: 1) DFCC meeting and working procedures, 2) Planning and implementation, 3) Linkages and coordination, 4) Participation and representation, and 5) Monitoring and evaluation.
Seabuckthorn Juice Processing Units
SNV is working with five juice processing units in the Karnali region (far-west Nepal) in terms of increasing their production efficiency, improving product quality and facilitating sustainable market linkages.
