As SNV Nicaragua’s Country Representative, Miguel has increased SNV Nicaragua's externally funded programs by 300% in the last two years, creating a strong portfolio in agribusiness, renewable energy, financial services, and governance. A native of Honduras, he began his career with SNV in 2002 as an advisor in economic development, moving to Nicaragua in 2008 as a Program Manager and soon after was promoted to his current leadership position. Over his 18 years of professional experience Miguel has developed expertise in value chain development, project management, and business strategy, and is a recognized SNV global leader in agribusiness, where he has advised and collaborated with teams in Africa, Asia and across Central and South America to develop market-based solutions for rural farmers.
He is a frequently invited speaker for international conferences in the United States, Europe and Latin America, particularly related to pro-poor development. Miguel speaks Spanish, English and French, and received a B.S. in Agribusiness from Zamorano University and an MBA from INCAE Business School.
