SNV promotes ways for Panama´s private sector to be more inclusive and extend opportunities to the low-income segment of the population.
Panama has a well-developed service sector, which includes the Panama Canal, banking, and an extensive free trade zone. Despite this strong economic activity, not all segments of the population have benefitted, and more than 25% of Panamanians still live in poverty.
Given this context, SNV seeks to advance more equitable and inclusive economic and social development. SNV has coordinated with the Netherlands Embassy located in Panama, particularly related to private sector engagement. These initiatives include the following:
