SNV started operations in Tanzania in 1971 and has been a consistent development partner since then, operating in all corners of the country. In alignment with Tanzania’s National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUKUTA, revised in 2010), SNV provides services in three sectors: Renewable Energy; Water Sanitation and Hygiene and Agriculture.

SNV has a team of 24 advisors working in Tanzania. In addition, we engage a flexible but growing number of national and international interns, associate advisors and consultants, as well as local organisations that provide capacity development services. We also work closely with SNV's network of advisors in the region to bring in specific expertise.

The Country Management Team includes:

  • Country Director (CD) Niko Pater, based in Dar es Salaam
  • Sector Leader (SL) Renewable Energy, Martijn Veen, based in Arusha
  • Sector Leader (SL) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Rose Atemo Lidonde, based in Dar es Salaam
  • Sector Leader (SL) Agriculture, Tom Ole Sikar , based in Arusha

SNV's operations in Tanzania are managed from Mwanza (covering the Laze Zone), Arusha (covering the northern part of Tanzania) and  Morogoro (covering the central and southern part of the country).
