In Tanzania, SNV works within the framework of the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty commonly referred to as MKUKUTA. The implementation is supported by the decentralisation-by-devolution frameworks and reforms in the private sector.
The MKUKUTA is aligned to the Millennium Development Goals and recognises the key implementers to its implementation as Local Government Authorities, Civil Society Organisations and Private Sector Organisations. SNV contributes to this by strengthening the capacities of local organisations in two impact areas namely:
- Access to Basic Services with focus on primary education, water, sanitation and hygiene
- Production, Income and Employment (Economic Development) with focus on oilseeds, livestock and tourism value chains
