SNV is an international development organisation, founded in the Netherlands in 1965. We currently work in 36 countries. SNV started working in Uganda in 1989.
What we do
SNV’s core business is to provide advisory services. We give advice to national and local actors within government, civil society and the private sector to help them find and implement local solutions to social and economic development challenges.
In Uganda we focus on:
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
- Renewable Energy
- Agriculture: value chain development in Oilseed, Horticulture, Honey and Dairy
- Vocational Skills Development
Good governance principles like accountability, transparency and participation are at the heart of all our work. ‘Governance for empowerment’ is the concept we use to underscore the value we place on gender equity and social inclusion of poor and marginalised people as the basis of sustainable development.
