Jeanette de Regt, Country Director
Jeanette graduated in Human Geography. From 1988 to 1992 she worked for the Netherlands Association of Country Women as a coordinator of a project on development cooperation between country women in the Netherlands and their peers in Africa and Asia. In this job she combined her love for rural development with her passion for adult education and awareness raising.
In 1993 she joined SNV Mali where she focused on 'International Dimension' (strategy development on interaction between local-national-international development). In 1995 she moved to Benin as Programme Coordinator for SNV for a period of four years. She moved back to the Netherlands from 1999 until 2001. During this time she studied Organizational Development and Management and worked at SNV Head Office. Her love for Africa brought her back to SNV Mali/Niger in 2001. In 2006 she decided that it was time for some change after 12 years in Africa. She joined SNV in the Balkans where she was the Country Director for SNV Bosnia Herzegovina / Montenegro until 2009 when she moved to SNV Uganda. In addition to the “usual” CD work, she has gained new insights and experience in the following: working in a post-conflict context, Value Chain Development, Inclusive Business, Public Private Partnerships, Local Capacity Builders, governance in drinking water, and non timber forest products.
Michael Tugyetwena, Finance Officer
Michael Tugyetwena is an Accountant by profession, CPA (U). He holds an MSc in Accounting & Finance plus a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Prior to joining SNV, Michael worked with a Micro Finance Institution as a Finance Manager having grown through the ranks from a Finance officer level in 2004. He joined SNV in 2008 as a GSO for Rwenzori portfolio and now as Uganda’s Country Controller since September 2009. He is offering qualitative support on the SNV core Finance pillars in line with the organization’s strategic positioning and programmes.
Doreen Kirungi, Human Resources Officer
Doreen holds a MSC. Human Resource Management, MSC. Development Economics and Bachelors of Environment Management degree. As the Human Resources Officer for SNV Uganda, she is involved in HR policy implementation and HR planning. She also spends her time supporting and challenging fellow staff to give their best because she believes that staff is the organization’s most important resource. Organizational and Human Resource Development, Recruitment and Selection are major aspects of her work.
Apart from HR management, Doreen was involved in HIV/AIDS work in the UN system and prior to that worked with a local NGO, promoting improved cooking technologies in Western Uganda. She says “working with SNV’s polished and professional staff is a great pleasure”.
Anne Mutta, Portfolio Coordinator, Central Portfolio
Anne Mutta has an MBA in Public Policy, a post graduate diploma in community development and a Bachelor of Education degree. Anne has over 13 years experience working with development organizations e.g. DFID, KPMG in Kenya and Sudan in the areas of gender, governance and community development.
She joined SNV Uganda from UNDP Sudan where she was the Adviser for joint UN planning in the Education and Water sectors. She also worked with SNV in South Sudan before that.
In her current role of Portfolio Coordinator, she leads a team of 18 advisors and support staff, of which she says ‘the challenges that are thrown my way are exciting and every day is different, never a dull moment being a portfolio coordinator!” Anne is also the Management Sponsor for Education.
Gregory Acar, Portfolio Coordinator, West Nile
Gregory Acar holds a Masters Degree in Women Law and Bachelors in Education. He joined SNV in 2008 as an Education advisor. He provides capacity-building support to District Local Governments and meso level organisations to improve Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme service delivery within the Central Portfolio districts, Uganda.
Gregory is the focal points person for multi-stakeholders processes (MSPs) for the education sector in Central Portfolio, Uganda. He is an active process facilitator at district and national levels and has contributed in further development of this product. Gregory is an active networker with other stakeholders, initiating with stakeholders the establishment of relevant bodies to monitor and supervise the implementation of UPE programmes. His passion is to see a community where people are empowered to make informed decision for their destiny.
Felix Kazahura, Portfolio Coordinator, Rwenzori
Felix Kazahura holds an MA in Social Sector Planning and Management, Post Graduate Diploma in international humanitarian response and a BA degree in Social Work and Social Administration. He is currently pursuing an MBA.
He joined SNV in 2005 as an advisor on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation. He gradually moved into Governance as its Practice Area Leader. In 2007, he became a fully fledged Economic Development Advisor, providing leadership to horticulture value chain. His work in Economic Development has focused on development of apiculture, oil seeds and horticulture value chains. He was also Trust Council Person for 2 years. Currently he is Portfolio Coordinator for Rwenzori, and PC sponsor for Economic Development.
Before joining SNV, Felix worked with the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda for 5 years where he focused on transforming the Uganda refugee programme from a relief operation to a development programme. Prior to that, he had worked for 6 years with Inter-Aid Uganda Urban Refugee Programme.
Joseph Semujju, Portfolio Coordinator, North East Portfolio
Joseph holds a Master’s Degree in Social Sector Planning and Management, a Higher Diploma in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Administration. He has 10 years of experience in organisational development, systems strengthening and change management.
He joined SNV in 2009 as a Portfolio Coordinator for the North East Portfolio where he leads a team of 12 advisors and some support staff to provide effective capacity development services to local government, Civil Society organizations and the private sector actors. He is the PC sponsor for renewable energy and the interim PC sponsor for water, sanitation and hygiene. His passion is to develop teams of professionals that are authentic and credible in everyway. He cares deeply about people and is able to assume responsibility.
