In Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, SNV Uganda’s focus on seven districts directly supporting 11 clients and working with three strategic partners contribute to 401,308 people accessing safe water and sanitation. Through exposure to and adoption of alternative technologies, NGOs, local governments and women groups were able to promote rain water harvesting and ecological sanitation facilities in schools and previously neglected communities in four districts reaching 540 people. These partners have mobilised resources and secured contracts to immediately serve 4,000 people and capacity to reach out to communities in 4 sub counties. The planned national level water and sanitation technology reverse expo in 2008 will be built onto by further linking users and technology solution developers to address complex issues inhibiting service provision. Now the functional local government and school water management committees have rejuvenated water committees and facilities serving 4,200 people in Adjumani and over 400,000 people in Kasese district. This resulted in a revival of previously abandoned water sources.
