Agriculture
- Kansanshi Mines has financed SNV to support the re-establishment of the agricultural livelihoods of over 250 households displaced by the Mine’s operations. SNV’s support includes training communities in money management following cash pay-out to the communities by the Mine, identifying business opportunities, training in running a business, and facilitation of group strengthening, formation and registration. Kansanshi Mine through the Kansanshi Foundation is taking over the required on-going support to the farmers for an agreed period after which the community should be able to enjoy a reasonable degree of livelihood security.
- Cordaid and SNV facilitated the external audit for North-Western Beekeepers Association in 2011. This was part of the process to ensure that internal controls and accounting systems are in place for clients in order to improve efficiency planning, control and management. SNV also facilitated financial management training to strengthen their financial management capacity and be able to provide good extension services to its members, thereby, increasing production by 500 metric tonnes annually.
