Horticulture

The horticulture sector in Zimbabwe has grown at 5% per annum since the 1990s. The sector provides opportunities for rural agricultural productivity, incomes and employment. Horticulture production by the small-holder producers has long been part of the integral part of the indigenous farming system. SNV focus is on banana and vegetable sub-sectors.  SNV works to increase the share of horticulture income of banana farming households; improve small holder productivity for banana growers; generate employment opportunities on the farm and off the farm in horticulture processing and spin-off economic activity; and increase the number of small holder producers commercially producing crops.

SNV works with Food Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Germany Development Services (DED) and the Horticulture Promotion Council.
