Unicef and SNV Mali sign € 728,000 for WASH in schools

Unicef and SNV Mali signed a collaboration agreement of 728,000 euros to promote hygiene in schools. The 12 months project falls within the framework of the cooperation between Unicef and the government of Mali for the period 2008-2012 with the objective to improve the lives of Malians children and women in accordance with the overall development strategy of the government. The project operates in 6 circles of Koulikoro and Sikasso namely Yorosso, Kadiolo, Koutiala, Dioïla, Kati and Banamba.

Linking client-cooperatives to USADF

Two Malian sesame producers’ organisations are to receive funding from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) following capacity building support from SNV.

The Banamba Sesame Producers Unions secured a US$206,000 award while Koulikoro Sesame Producers Union received US$190,000, both for acquiring processing equipment in the framework of contributing to the reduction of food insecurity. SNV Mali supported the organisations in proposal writing and linkages with donors

From 17th-20th of September the 7th African Cashew Alliance Annual Conference was held in Cotonou Benin under the title “The future is now!”. SNV Benin and Guinea Bissau jointly participated in this big yearly meeting attracting continuously increasing numbers of traders, processors, producer organisations, business service providers, equipment manufacturers, bankers and funding institutions from all over the world.

HIIT develops training for Cooks in Mali

The High Impact Tourism Training (HITT) team in Mali has successfully carried out the first training of trainers and training of beneficiaries on ‘Traditional Malian Cooking’.

The six days course, which took place from 12th to 19th July 2012 in Bamako, involved 6 trainers and 42 beneficiaries. These trainings were held and delivered at Centre Aoua Keita (CAK), SNV local partner of the HITT program.
