SNV has been selected as the Fund Manager of the £7 million Vietnam Business Challenge Fund (VBCF) by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
The VBCF is designed to support the private sector in Vietnam to develop innovative Inclusive Business models that deliver both commercial benefits for the private sector and development benefits for poor people – including job creation, income improvements and more affordable goods and services.
The VBCF will award grants to provide partial funding (up to 49% of accepted budgets) to firms operating in Vietnam through competitive calls for Inclusive Business proposals. Successful proposals will be for projects that benefit the poor, are commercially sustainable and are replicable in the long run.
For each round of funding, VBCF will offer support for Inclusive Business proposals across three areas - agriculture, low-carbon growth and infrastructure. These have been identified as areas in which private sector investment can deliver major impacts on poverty reduction and respond to development challenges in Vietnam, while also producing good returns on investments.
