About SNV Balkans

SNV Balkans contributes to development in the region by helping to build capacity at the local levels, to prepare them for EU accession and ensure that they will benefit from the eventual benefits of EU integration. SNV Balkans implements this approach through a focus on forestry, tourism and agriculture, as well on drinking water supply.

We also support governance, local economic development, gender and social inclusion initiatives within our regional strategy.

What people say about us ....

“The assistance and support of SNV has been a key factor for the success of this programme. They were there when we were designing the programme and saw it right through to successful completion. The programme has been a model of good governance and the lessons learned are invaluable not only for Diber, but also for other regions in the country.”

Naim Gazidede, Chairman, Diber County Council

"SNV’s contribution to the development of the Montenegro forestry law has been immeasurable

Dr Milosav Andjelic, Assistant Minister for Forestry, Montenegro

“SNV is the first and only organisation that has been able to take us down to the level where the implications of EU policy level processes meet the desires and needs of ordinary citizens”

Nedeljko Masleša, Assistant Director, Directorate for European Integration (DEI), Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers

“SNV has a singular capability to facilitate regional exchange of knowledge about EU accession processes that our other partners don’t have”

Nevenka Savić, Director DEI, BiH

“At the start of our regional development and investment programme, SNV helped us to overcome our biggest challenge: the huge lack of trust and confidence between different stakeholders. Without SNV building our capacity in this respect, we would not be achieving the tangible results that are now starting to materialize.”

Shkelzen Qoku, Diber Regional Council, Albania

“We consider the cooperation with SNV as a fruitful one.” H.E Sali Berisha - Albanian Prime Minister
