On 16 September 2007, twelve non-profit organisations joined hands to establish a network to monitor the implementation of the development strategy in the Fier region (south-western Albania). The network has been established and supported during the project “Civic participation in monitoring Millennium Development Goals”, implemented by UNDP and SNV in six regions of Albania.
This is the fifth network launched so far in Albania and the sixth will be launched next week in Korça (south-eastern Albania). The project’s objective is to increase civil society involvement in the implementation of regional development strategies. SNV provides assistance to the networks in two main pillars: institutional and organizational development and expertise in the specific fields of development of the regions.
The civil society networks are also involved in the local stakeholder consultation process on the National Strategy for Development and Integration and different national sectorial which is an ongoing process that SNV facilitates in some regions.
