Kakani, June 3- From Kakani municipality, SNV started this week the “EU Awareness Campaign at the Local Level” pilot project. This project is the continuation of the activities that SNV has been implementing since 2007 with the BiH Directorate for European Integration, and Associations of cities and municipalities of Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska, otherwise known as the “EU Localization” process. Upon the presentation of the pilot project, mayors and relevant representatives of the municipalities signed the Letter of Intent for taking part in this important project.

Letter of Intent was signed by Mensur Jašarspahić-Suri, Kakanj mayor; Munib Alibegović, Visoko mayor; Tahir Lendo, Travnik mayor ; Zoran Tegeltija, Mrkonjić Grada mayor; Slobodan Savić, Pale mayor; Ermin Hajder, Bosanski Petrovac mayor; and representatives of Šipovo and Kiseljak municipalities.
Representatives of the Directorate for the European Integration, Associations of cities and municipalities of FBiH, as well as potential donors and partners: USAID, SIDA, EC, OSCE, UNDP, NGOs,attended the event.
During the next two months, Teams of the European Integration (2 persons) within each municipality will take part in 8 workshops. The goal of these workshops is to increase capacities of the municipal administration and relevant NGOs in order to be able to actively take part in the preparation of the EU Integration process. Main topics of the workshops will be EU history, institutions, regulative relevant for the local level, EU funds, importance of partnership in the process of the integration to EU, rural and regional development, Public Private Partnership, etc.
