Friday, October 30, 2009 12:50 PM
“Manual for forms of cooperation between local-self government and civil sector" was presented on 16 October in the Great Hall of the Council of the City of Skopje. The manual was prepared due to the necessity to improve cooperation between the municipalities and civil sector.

“City of Skopje sees the importance of civil sector as crucial in the overall development of the city and has recognized them as partners in resolving issues that are in interest of the community”,- said Secretary of the City of Skopje, Gordana Ivanovic in her welcome speech to attendees at the presentation of the manual. “After evaluating the need for analysis of international experience and the forms of cooperation, together with SNV we agreed to prepare a practical Manual on the forms and ways for cooperation between local government and civil sector”, Mrs Ivanovic added.

The Manual is meant to help chosen representatives of local governments, local administration and civil society organizations in their way of creating strategic partnerships, doing specific activities, realizing common projects and interests and promote the model for transferring specific competences to civil sector.

The manual uses domestic and international experience in the field of formalizing cooperation between the civil society and local governments. The authors are Natasha Gaber Damjanovska  (consultant) and SNV advisors Violeta Madzova and Dusan Pavlovski.
