SNV presents challenges of rural tourism at international fair

Ohrid, - Representatives of 25 tourism agencies and tour operators from Israel, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Italy, Hungary and Montenegro participated at the third International Tourism Fair which took place from 16-19 January, in Ohrid, Macedonia.

In the auspices of the Trade fair, a Tourism Forum took place, with participation of around 100 people, among which high state officials as well as high managers of tourism industry in Macedonia and abroad. SNV Senior Tourism Advisor, Nehat Ramadani delivered a 30 minute presentation on the topic “Challenges of the rural tourism in Macedonia”. Mr. Ramadani stressed that “the biggest challenges of rural tourism in Macedonia are development of market oriented products and promotional activities. In order to overcome the challenges, an integral approach of all key national and local stakeholders it is needed”.

The presentation was very well received and raised many questions by the audience including Liljana Popovksa, a member of the national parliament of Macedonia and a well known tourism lobber, Zoran Strezovski, Director of the National Agency for Tourism Support and Promotion, Nako Taskov, the dean of Tourism Faculty, Miodrag Atanasovski, president of Tourism Chamber in Macedonia, etc.

The International Tourism Fair in Macedonia had high media coverage and it was organized under the patronage of the Government of Macedonia.
