Eldoret (Kenya) -. This weekend Dutch minister Bert Koenders (Development Cooperation) paid a short visit to the joint SNV-UNICEF initiative in the North-Rift Region in Kenya. This education initiative was set up as a response to the post-election 2007 violence that flared up in most parts of the country. SNV and UNICEF join efforts in ensuring that the displaced children in the camps in Uasin Gishu district, access education by setting up temporary schools on the IDP camp premises. As a result, 4,200 children in the IDP camps have been able to continue with schooling
