Capacity building activities of SNV in the WCA region concentrate on organisations and institutions which improved functioning has an immediate impact on either delivery of basic services or income opportunities for the poor.
This means that local government agencies, charged with the organisation of basic service delivery are well represented in our client portfolio. Another important category is formed by associations of farmers creating better income opportunities for their members and defending their economic interests within the value chain. The third important category is local development organisations (NGOs) working towards specific development goals for specific target groups.
SNV’s capacity building services for its clients include building bridges towards other organisations and connecting macro- and micro level policies and interventions. This multi-actor approach towards capacity building characterises SNV.
Special attention deserves the category of Local Capacity Builders (LCB). For reasons of ownership and long term sustainability of development processes SNV targets LCBs as preferred clients.
