Focus per region

While SNV is known as market leader in domestic biogas in Africa and Asia, our worldwide programmes have also focused on the development, application and promotion of other RE technologies with high potential in local contexts.

SNV Asia focuses mainly on household cooking energy - domestic biogas and improved biomass cookstoves, with attention to carbon funding mechanisms. SNV Asia also works on a number of climate-change-related innovations, such as REDD+. Across Africa, we have invested significantly in developing the biogas sector and have launched programmes focusing on solar energy and improved cook stoves. In Latin America, our work concentrates on the production and use of bio-fuels, biomass production, inclusive business and carbon financing. The potential in the biomass subsector (for electricity as well as for liquid fuel) is particularly promising in Latin America.
