Advisory services are the core of SNV’s work. SNV has experience in the implementation of RE programmes with local parties since 1989. SNV fills a specialist support role: developing capacities in new expertise areas, facilitating creation of and change in market systems, promoting innovation and creating effective solutions. SNV deploys a multi-disciplinary team of 60 professional advisors in the RE sector.
SNV’s long presence in the field and our ongoing advisory work with more than 1,000 local organisations are fertile sources of knowledge and insight. Through studies, analysis, effective M&E systems and practices and documentation we consciously leverage the use of knowledge in the development and application of contextualised solutions. SNV has established wide knowledge networks on RE, involving partners, clients, stakeholders and professionals in more than 50 countries. Amongst others, SNV is convening the Working Group on Domestic Biogas established under the Energy for All Partnership initiated by the Asian Development Bank.
SNV joins forces with governments, the private sector and civil society to enrich policy debate and development. Through offering facts, data and analysis based on real-life practices, we provide options and alternatives that match the interests of people living in poverty. For example, SNV promoted the establishment of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) to oversee and coordinate the activities of various parties in the RE sector in Nepal.
