Focus per Region

Within the countries we are active in, SNV is known for its methodological standards of participation, governance, systemic engagement and knowledge generation. More specifically, in East and Southern Africa, SNV is known for water point mapping, commercialisation of water services, menstrual hygiene management for school girls, school WASH, and the development of supply chains for rural water supply. In West and Central Africa, our track record lies in capacity building to manage municipal and rural water supply, and our contribution to UNICEF-supported programmes.

In Asia, SNV has introduced a comprehensive approach to rural sanitation and hygiene, integrating demand creation, sanitation marketing, governance and local behavioural change communication, and has put functionality of rural water services on the agenda of different governments. In Latin America, our work is focused on urban WASH, in particular improving access to sanitation through financial products tailored to the low-income families and the performance of water and sanitation utilities in small towns.
